 10th Annual Rally - October 2008

Relatives of people who have died in custody have marched in London demanding answers for the deaths.

The United Families and Friends Campaign said there have been 182 deaths in police, prison, or psychiatric custody over the past year. The relatives of a Brazilian man shot dead by anti-terror officers also took part in the march. The group wants Prime Minister Gordon Brown to tell them what happened to their loved ones.

Campaigners marched from Trafalgar Square to demand a “genuinely independent” body to investigate the deaths. They also want officers allegedly responsible for deaths to face criminal charges, even if they have retired.
